This diskmag is coded entirely in STOS basic, using varying
Extensions from issue to issue: most notably the MISSING LINK, MISTY,
STARS and EXTRA
Programming: TONY GREENWOOD
Editing: DEANO
Problem solving: Neil Haliday

(When she has something to review)
Chip Music: MAD MAX (USUALLY!)
Packer used: ATOMIK by Altair usually.
Bootsector: Andy Cato
This disk magazine is FREEWARE and may be freely distributed to your
hearts content, on the one condition that it is in no way sold for
profit. P.D libraries may charge their usual amount allowing for costs
etc...But NO extortionate amounts please.
(Please note PDL conditions further on in this text)
THE DISCLAIMER
**************
(THE NAFF BIT)
**************
All text files, code and graphics in this 'zine are copyrighted to
STOSSER diskzine and we'd be very grateful that you get in touch with
either us,(STOSSER) or the writer of the article before using it in any
other publication or program whatsoever, although I must admit you'd be
far better off getting your own material, let's face it, it's not very
clever to nick other peoples work is it?.
Written permission must be obtained from us or the writer before you use
anything. If we find something from this zine hovering around without
ours or the writers permission, we'll be very unhappy, and you may find
the manual for the recently deceased on your dressing table. Of course if
you do use anything from the 'zine we'll want you to state it very
clearly.
This disk magazine is FREEWARE (specifically the text, graphics contained
within the shell or part of the shell and the shell itself) and may be
distributed freely by everyone (with certain conditions to P.D.
Libraries). HOWEVER!, it must be in it's entirety and remain unaltered or
changed in any way. We can accept no responsibility whatsoever for loss
or damage resulting from the use of this 'zine. You want a guarantee, buy
a glossy magazine, they guarantee a virus free disk every time......(or
at least they say they do.........tee hee!). We do it entirely for fun
and without profit as do the coder's and writers of the routines and
articles we use. So if you have a problem then erm.........we're sorry,
but that's life. Incidentally, in the unlikely event that you do
experience problems, get in touch with brief details of your set-up so we
can do our best to sort it out.
All the 'Giveaways' stuff in the 'zine is Freeware, P.D. or Shareware as
far as we know, therefore if we have used something that we shouldn't
have, please tell us as soon as possible so we can shoot whoever sent it
us. However, none of us whatsoever will be held responsible in anyway,
for any infringements of copyright or complete cock-ups as we rely
entirely on the documentation supplied. Don't forget that if you use any
source code that is given away within your own programs, do the decent
thing and credit the author for it.
If we blunder unwittingly into your copyright territory then please tell
us immediately so that we can try to rectify the situation. We try to
ensure that all material is original, but some things are bound to slip
through.
PD Libraries conditions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are a few specifics for PDLs which should be followed if they wish
to stock Stosser (Issues >18) as part of their collection:
1) No part of this magazine is to be 'tagged' with the PDL moniker. If
you wish to 'tag' the 'zine then please ask for permission first. In
other words; no sneaky 'this disk supplied by XXXX PDL' text files.
2) If you decide that Stosser is good enough to be used then please
inform me (Deano) that this is the case.
3) If you do decide to stock Stosser then for each copy you receive from
any of the Stosser team you should, at the very least replace, the
disk you were sent - we're doing you the favour remember.
4) If you stock Stosser then we would appreciate being told how many
copies you sell. It allows us to keep track of response in proportion
to what we receive.
5) If you want to stock Stosser regularly then send me (Deano) your PDLs
address and you will receive a copy of it directly from us - on
condition of the above points.
6) If you are part of the mailing list then please drop me a note
saying you received it as soon as possible after receiving it.
Writing to STOSSER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are a few pointers to those who are considering writing to Stosser:
General:
When writing to any of the Stosser team, and you want a personal reply
then please enclose, at the very least, a Stamp. If you don't - you don't
get a reply. Simple. (I was asked why this is the case - after all it's
only a flamin' stamp - 24p. Well that's fine if you're thanking Granny
for the jumper she knitted, but you try answering 50 letters and those
24p's add up rather startlingly1! (#12 is a good few dwinkies))
If you want source for a particular item then send a disk (you'd be
surprised at how many freeloaders ask for source and expect us to pay for
disks) ALSO please include enough postage to cover the return of the
disks. Additionally please try to put the disk in a Jiffy bag (or
similar), not envelopes. That way we save trees from extinction and we
don't have to fork out on packing.
We all do this for free, not even that shareware b*ll**ks. So we don't
want to be out of pocket when we are helping you lot.
Simple rule - No postage - No reply.
If you send disks to one of the Stosser team then try to fill it with
either Articles (yes please), or STOS related software. Failing both, put
on some * obscure * PD/Shareware/Freeware so we at least get something
out of the deal.
Specific Stuff:
Please send all articles on a disk in ascii format (a doc file).
Letters For Stosser and Telegraph messages:
Send them to: Deano
27 Turbary Walk
Milnrow Rochdale
OL16 4JN
ENGLAND
Letters can be about anything you want. How you like/dislike the mag.
Suggestions, comments or even just for chat.
Unless you specifically tell me not to, I *may* use any letter you send
in the letters page. The same goes for names I'll stick your name on the
end unless you tell ne not to.
Telegraph messages can be about anything to anyone and can be rather fun.
The only rules are:
1) Whatever you are wanting to say, has to be said in 4 Lines (not
including your name and the receivers name) and
2) No slagging is permitted. (though friendly ribbing is allowed)
Telegraph messages can be sent using a bit of paper, a postcard, or as a
word processed document (at the same time as you are sending some
articles hopefully)
Contacts:
If you want to be a contact for someone (which is a bit like a pen pal
but not as naff sounding) then send your name and address to me
(Deano - Address elsewhere in this text)
Try to include a brief bit about your interests so that people have an
idea of who you are. (*not* "Duh! I like reading and walking the dog")
Adverts:
Got something to sell, swap or you want to buy something, then this is
the place to do it. Send your ads to Deano.
Please note if the advert is on the big side could you PLEASE put it on a
disk in ASCII. I don't fancy spending my time typing up a 2 page advert.
Source Code:
If you have STOS source code or assembler code that works with STOS then
send it to:
Colin GFF
12 Cochrane Close
Gosport
PO13 8EX
If you do send source then please try to follow these guidelines:
1) Try to write somewhere which extensions (if any) you have used, and
what file extender you used (e.g. Tracker Extension on .EXB) It makes
Colins life easier if he knows what he's up against.
2) Try to include as many rems explaining what your program does at each
stage. It's easier for learners to follow, and the rest of us.
3) Try to include a return stamp so that Colin isn't out of pocket. It
may only be 24p to you, but multiply that by 50 letters and you get
the idea of why I'm saying this.
Finally make sure that the source you send is your own work. If it's not
then please include the original programmers name. It's lame not to and
if we find out then we'll send "The Boys" round. (and I don't mean Bill
Clintons genitals!)
Articles:
We are always wanting articles, tutorials, hints, tips - in fact anything
longer than 20 lines so send it to us. (I whinge about this a lot so I'll
keep this bit brief)
Send them to: DEANO
(address same as the Letters address)
Problems:
See problem page for full details in asking for assistance with a STOS
problem, or if you are responding to a previously unknown problem.
